What to Expect

You don’t need to stress about a thing. Your session moves at your baby’s pace, with plenty of time for feeds, cuddles, and settling. I guide you every step of the way so you feel comfortable and confident — even if this is your first baby or your toddler has big feelings that day.

My in-home studio is designed specifically for newborn photography, with soft natural light, clean white textures, and everything needed to create timeless images.

When to book

I recommend reaching out during your second trimester to reserve your due date. At minimum, please contact me no later than four weeks before your desired session to ensure availability.

Maternity sessions are best scheduled between 34–36 weeks, when your bump is beautifully defined and you’re still comfortable enough to move with ease.

Newborn sessions are ideal within the first 14 days of life. During this time, babies are sleepier and naturally curl into those classic newborn poses. After two weeks, babies are more alert and less likely to stay deeply settled — though beautiful images are always possible.

Booking Process

When you inquire, I will first ask whether you are interested in maternity photos, newborn photos, or both so we can plan accordingly.

For newborn sessions, I recommend securing your spot as early as possible by paying your deposit and completing your questionnaire. I will reserve your due date on my calendar.

Once your baby arrives, simply contact me as soon as you are able. I will schedule your session within 4–5 days of hearing from you, or on the closest date that works best for your family.

For the best newborn posing, I recommend scheduling your session within the first 5–10 days of life. Sessions must take place before 14 days of age to achieve the classic, curled newborn poses.

How to Prepare

Of course, everyone is welcome to stay for the entire shoot — whatever feels easiest for your family.

Newborn sessions can be long for little ones. Some families choose to take separate cars so Dad and the kids can head home after their photos, while Mom and baby stay for the remainder of the session.

Have Older Children?

Soft tones like white, cream, beige, and light grey photograph best.

For Moms:

For Everyone:

Keeping outfits light and neutral helps create timeless, cohesive images.

Final images

Sneak peeks will be delivered via email within 5 days of your session.

Your full gallery will be ready approximately 3 weeks after your session date (give or take a day). Once your gallery is delivered, you’ll be able to select the number of images included in your package, with the option to purchase additional images or upgrade to the full gallery for a flat rate of $100.

What Will Be Edited?

  • All final images include professional retouching. You can expect the following temporary blemishes to be removed:

  • • Pimples
    • Minor scratches or cuts
    • Facial bruising
    • Tears
    • Visible nasal discharge
    • Sweat on the face

  • For maternity sessions, temporary skin changes such as stretch marks on the belly can be softened if desired.

  • For newborn sessions, baby skin is carefully retouched to remove flakes, redness, and temporary blemishes while keeping a natural look.

  • Permanent features such as scars and birthmarks are not removed unless specifically requested — you are beautiful exactly as you are.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you provide props for newborn sessions?

Yes! I have a large collection of wraps, blankets, baskets, headbands, bonnets, and simple, timeless props available for your session.

If there is something specific you have in mind, feel free to ask. You are also welcome to bring sentimental items or special mementos if you would like them included.

Do you provide maternity outfits?

Yes. I have several maternity gowns available in adjustable sizes. Please let me know before your session date if you would like to use one so I can have it prepared.

Do you provide children's outfits?

No. Families are responsible for providing their own outfits for all children's sessions, including cake smashes.

Do you have a studio space?

Yes. Sessions can take place in:

• My in-home studio on McAnulty Blvd (Hamilton)
• An outdoor location
• Your home (natural light near a window)

In-home client sessions require a minimum one-hour booking.

Can I request specific poses?

You are welcome to share inspiration or let me know if there is a specific pose that is especially important to you. I will always do my best to prioritize requested images first.

However, I do not guarantee specific poses, as every baby and child responds differently during a session.

What if my child does not cooperate?

Children (especially toddlers) can be unpredictable — and that’s completely normal.

If children are cooperative, we can often capture additional poses within your booked time. If they are upset or unwilling to participate, certain poses may not be possible.

Each session varies depending on your child’s comfort and cooperation level.
